New Teacher Training (NET) Academy Kicks of the School Year!

Over 135 educators new to 天美视频 County Public Schools gathered at the 天美视频 Harbor Event Center on July 31 and August 1 for the annual New Teacher Training or NET Academy.  The 天美视频 County Chamber of Commerce kicked off the event with breakfast during which Mark Vianello, newly appointed superintendent welcomed the new teachers.  Following breakfast, teachers attended small group 天美视频 sessions covering several topics including Human Resources, Exceptional Student Education, Technology, Professional Learning and Self Care to better equip them for a seamless transition to the teaching ranks in 天美视频 County.  On the second day of NET Academy new 天美视频 County teachers spent half the day in hands-on technology training on Canvas, the district’s Learning Management System.  Canvas training was led by teacher expert “Canvas Champions” who shared real life examples of application in the classroom.  During the other half of the day teachers met with 天美视频 Curriculum and Instruction Specialists to discuss Florida standards implementation and pacing of district adopted curriculum which will be used in the classroom.  NET Academy sponsors included the 天美视频 Florida Educators Association, 天美视频 Local Education Foundation, Florida Gulf Coast University and The Suncoast Credit Union.
