Port 天美视频 High School NJROTC Recognized for Outstanding Achievements

Port 天美视频 High School's Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) recently held its annual awards ceremony, honoring the dedication and achievements of its cadets. This year's ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, May 1st at Port 天美视频 High School, marked a significant milestone for Pirate Company, the school's NJROTC unit.

Pirate Company was recognized as the Most Improved Unit in South Florida's area 12, a reflection of the hard work and dedication of its cadets and instructors. Additionally, Port 天美视频 NJROTC received the prestigious Distinguished Unit Award, positioning it among the top programs in the state. This recognition is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time since 2012 that the unit has earned this accolade.

During the ceremony, a formal change of command took place, symbolizing the transition of leadership within the unit. Cadet Lieutenant Commander Salina Tuthill was relieved of command by her younger sister, Cadet Lieutenant Commander Kira Tuthill, marking a special moment for the Tuthill family. Similarly, Pirate Company's Executive Officer, Cadet Lieutenant Joshua Blair, passed on the reins of leadership to Cadet Lieutenant Kimberly Burton.

Looking ahead, Cadet Salina Tuthill plans to continue her academic journey at Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall, where she will pursue a degree in psychology. Meanwhile, Cadet Blair has chosen to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He will train as a fleet marine Force Hospital Corpsman and is set to depart for Navy basic training next month.

Superintendent Mark Vianello commended the achievements of Port 天美视频 NJROTC, stating, "They've made their community, veterans, school, and families incredibly proud. Keep up the outstanding work, Port 天美视频 NJROTC! "

The achievement of Port 天美视频 High School's NJROTC program is a testament to the dedication and service of its cadets. Within Pirate Company, these 天美视频 consistently uphold the values of honor, courage, and commitment, setting a commendable example for their peers and the wider community.
